Respectful Relationships aims to create a culture of respect and gender equality. The initiative equips young people with the knowledge and skills to build healthy relationships, develop resilience, and increase their confidence. It also supports schools in fostering positive attitudes and behaviours that promote inclusion and equity.
As a senior secondary school, Djerriwarrh Community College recognises the importance of respectful relationships education in supporting our young people’s personal and social development. Our approach integrates Respectful Relationships into our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and Homegroup sessions, covering topics such as:
- Emotional literacy
- Personal and cultural strengths
- Positive coping
- Problem-solving
- Stress management
- Help-seeking
- Gender norms and stereotypes
- Positive gender relations
Our dedicated Respectful Relationships team meets fortnightly to review progress and implement our yearly Action Plan, addressing key improvements that align with the initiative’s framework. By embedding Respectful Relationships into our school culture, we are committed to preparing our young people for positive and respectful interactions both within and beyond the classroom.
